What, if any, resolutions did you make in 2009 and how many did you keep? Do you plan to make any resolutions for 2010? Do you find this tradition constructive or debilitating?
I don't think I made any resolutions in 2009. And if I did I certainly didn't keep them.

What one film do you think everyone should see?

How have the ways you used the Internet changed over the years? How did you use it ten or fifteen years ago compared to how you use it now?

I don't think the use changes that much. 15 years ago we used Usenet, WAIS, gopher and email. Now we use twitter, the web and wave to do pretty much the same thing.

Man that was cynical of me wasn't it?

Ok. 15 years ago things were still pretty much text based. I didn't shop, listen to music or watch video like I do now.

15 years ago I was one of the few people I knew who got on the Internet everyday. Now my kids tease me 'cause I'm a little slow getting the hang of Facebook.

Been away for a while..

Sal, Self-portrait
Can't believe it's been a year and one day since I posted to this journal. Was a little better with my more private hard copy journal.
When do you typically start shopping for holiday gifts? Do you usually wind up buying stuff at the last minute?

Generally around December 23rd or so...

We're all sick.

Sal, Self-portrait
My whole family came down with some kind of nasty flu virus yesterday.  Today we're all still pretty much lounging around trying to recover.  I'll spare you the gory details.  What really sucks though, is that we were planning on driving to Atlanta  to visit my sister and her family for Thanksgiving.  Being in no shape to do that, we had to cancel.  I was really looking forward to that trip.

Congratulations Rats!

Sal, Self-portrait
I know this is a couple of days late but I would be remiss if I did not offer a hearty shout out to my son's high school water polo team, the Ann Arbor Huron High School River Rats.  The Rats won the 2008 State of Michigan Water Polo Championship last weekend.  And they beat their arch rivals - the AA Pioneer Pioneers - to do it.  I don't think I've ever seen my son happier.

Polo is life.

Sal, Self-portrait
I'm off to Guelph, Ontario for the weekend.  The Rats have been invited to compete in a water polo tournament.  Next weekend is the Michigan State Championship Tournament.  Our boys have a very good chance to win the State Championship this year.  Being the parent of a team captain is a lot of work.  I'm kind of looking forward to it being over.  Of course my daughter also plays.  But the girl's season is in the Spring.  And she's only a Sophomore so she's not a team captain.  Yet.

Two down

Sal, Self-portrait
Well my wife broke her ankle last week and my son had all four of his wisdom teeth extracted yesterday so I took a couple of days off work to ferry them around.

I hope to get some yardwork done over the next couple of days.  My backyard is starting to look like a field.  I got a little done today.  There's a corner of my yard that has been taken over by Buckthorn.  I cut it all down today.  I hope to dig out the roots tomorrow.

I bought some speakers for my new computer today. I bought a logitech X-540 system.  I don't really know if that means anything but I saw them in Office Max.  They cost $100.  I wasn't going to buy them.  I was going to settle for a much cheaper pair of speakers but my birthday was last week and my in-laws gave me a $100 bill for a present. So I knew just what to do with it.
